The Top Floor touts itself as the world’s first interactive webcam dance party. Whether or not this is true, it has to be among the first. Laptops, DV cameras, digital projectors, and other prosumer equipment are used to create a stunning array of graphics offering an amazing palate for The Top Floor’s multi-sensory experience. All the digital elements are mixed on-the-fly, projected onto the walls of the dance floor and piped over the internet into the rooms of those users logged in from home. The home users, who are available on both chat and webcam, are integrated into the live dance scene via digital projectors. The super hot, ultra hip dancers who frequent the live event are mostly “invite only”, a strategy that keeps the hotties in and the notties out. Host Benjamin Hughes leads the party “personally connecting” with audience members both on and off line. Backing him up are The Top Floor crew who mix everything together seamlessly.
